Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. Higher interest rates and exploding home prices may have finally caught up with the Boise housing market. CBS2 news staff report home sales in Ada County dropped 16 percent in June compared to last year. The decline marked the fourth month sales have decreased since last year's highs. The median price for a home also slipped to $592,090 in the county. Compared to just one year ago, Ada County has double as many homes on the market. (idahonews)
  2. A Boise woman will spend at least 30 years in prison for a multitude of crimes, including murder, in the case of the death of John Baker. KTVB-TV staff report Josina Regan was sentenced to life in prison after she was sentenced for a total of nine convictions. Regan confessed to shooting Baker three times in the chest with a shotgun at a residence on North Ancestor Avenue on Oct. 22, 2020. (KTVB)
  3. Over the years, much of the history of Boise has been torn down, replaced by asphalt or new buildings. An exception to this is the Erma Hayman House, a small residence on River Street. Boise State Public Radio speaks with representatives for the City of Boise regarding saving the structure and the importance of saving an area of the city once home to immigrants and home to many of the city’s African American residents. (Boise State Public Radio)
  4. You may wish to look upwards Wednesday night as the "supermoon" will appear for one night only. The spectacle, according to the Oregonian's Jamie Hale, will be the time the moon will be at its biggest and brightest for the entire year. The reason is the moon will be closest to the earth at 221,993 miles away. Our neighbor is usually 238,855 miles away. 2022 will only see four supermoons and only two occur during full moons. If you miss Wednesday night's viewing, 2023 will again feature two full supermoons. (oregonlive)
  5. If you act now, you may be able to see those 2023 supermoons from a new home. Boise Patch has a roundup of those homes on the market and ready for new star gazers. (Boise Patch)
