Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Boise Daily. We start with an education summit coming to our local university campus. Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- The campus of Boise State University will be the location as professionals meet to discuss education for Indigenous populations of Idaho. Boise Patch reports the Indian Education Summit will be held Aug. 15 and 16 with the theme being "Our Collective Future". Registration is now open. (Boise Patch)
- A Boise woman, popular on social media as an online business coach, author, public speaker and podcaster will be in court Tuesday facing charges of felony vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injury crash. KTVB-TV staff write Natalie Hodson, 37, was arrested after she struck a woman Monday night on Highway 55 between Beacon Light and Seamans Gulch Road. Witnesses reported Hodson continued driving after the incident before being pulled over on Suttle Lake Drive. Investigators have not said if drugs or alcohol were involved. (KTVB)
- The heat continues in Boise, but before you know it, summer will be nothing but a memory. Before the falls leaves hit the ground the the chilly mornings are upon us, LITE-FM's Michelle Heart looks at 13 free events to check out. Included are movies, parades, concerts and festivals. - Gas prices are slowly making their way down and now the Ada County Board of Commissioners announced no property tax increase for 2023. CBS2 news staff report the commission announced on their website Monday a decision to decline a an allowable 3 percent increase. Citing current economic difficulties, the fiscal budget for 2023 will base on current property tax rates. (idahonews)
- 'We can neither confirm or deny...' BoiseDev editor Don Day reports Micron confirms plans to build a mega-fab facility in the US, but will not confirm Boise will be the site. Micron officials and Boise Mayor Lauren McLean attended the signing of the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 Tuesday by President Joe Biden. The state has also provided tax breaks to semiconductor makers to expand in Idaho. A mega-fab unit could produce thousands of jobs to the local area according to the article. (boisedev)
