Welcome to the Saturday edition of the Boise Daily. We start with news the jury remains behind closed doors in the sexual assault case of a former Idaho legislator. Crab in the shell may soon be replaced by crab pockets, and we forward you our weekly update in the Daybell trials. Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. Jury deliberations continued on Friday in the case of former Idaho legislator Aaron von Ehlinger. In a story by the Associated Press and carried on CBS2, the jury deliberated for seven hours on Thursday before choosing to return on Friday. (Idaho News)
  2. A place where crab was enjoyed may soon open for Asian cuisine. BoiseDev editor Don Day writes the former location of Joe's Crab Shack near the Boise River is slated to be leased to Ling & Louie's. The existing patio overlooking the river is planned to remain. (boisedev)
  3. We promised to keep you updated weekly on the Chad and Lori Vallow Daybell cases and this week, we can report the trial will indeed be held in Ada County. East Idaho News reporter Nate Eaton reports District Judge Steven Boyce denied a motion to have Chad Daybell's indictment dismissed. Boyce also denied a motion to have a jury of Ada County residents be brought into Fremont County for the trial, reaffirming his previous decision to have the trial moved to Boise. The question if the jury will be sequestered has not been decided. (easteidahonews)

  5. In any given day, Boise has a number of visitors, but this one probably did not rent a motel room. KZEJ-FM's Greg Janetta writes a Boise astronomy student filed a report with the National UFO Reporting Center of an orange, pulsating sphere that was witnessed for approximately 20 seconds. The report includes a photograph of the object. Our area appears to be a hotbed for sightings as April has seen reports from Boise, Payette, New Plymouth, Hayden, and Nampa.   • The Boise State University Recreation Center is sponsoring "Every Ending is a New Beginning: A Dance Concert" on Saturday. (1 p.m.)
  • The Cactus Youth Choir presents The Human Heart on Saturday evening. (7 p.m.)
  • The Gem Center for the Arts presents Tyler Boeh on Saturday. (8 p.m.)
