Here are the top three stories in Boise today:
- Early Tuesday morning, May 30, a man jumped into the Boise River to escape police. The 25-year-old Boise man was allegedly acting strange and inhaling compressed air in Julia Davis Park when officers approached him. The suspect ran, hit officers with his arms and legs when the tried to detain him, and jumped into the river. Firemen launched a boat and retrieved the suspect from the river, and police arrested him for battery on a law enforcement officer and other charges. (Subscription: Idaho Statesman)
- On Wednesday, May 31, Boise firefighters rescued a man who was stranded 50 feet in the air in a broken boom lift on S. Capitol Boulevard in downtown Boise. After the boom malfunctioned, firefighters were able to use a Truck 7's bucket to transfer the man to the ladder truck. No injuries were reported. (Idaho News)
- The city of Boise has decided not to choose any of the three finalists to be the next Office of Police Accountability director. Vic McCraw, Mac Muir, and Leia Pitcher were not "the right fit for the office or for the community," according to Boise spokesperson Maria Weeg. Weeg continued, "I think the next steps are to do a more targeted, localized search." (Idaho Press)
