Hello, everybody. It's Sunday in Boise and I'm back in your inbox to get you caught up on the most important things happening in town. Let's do it...

Welcome to the Sunday edition of the Boise Daily. We start with the radio stations you are listening to after you read the early morning copy of the Boise Daily. Finally, sad news from the Boise Zoo as one of the big cats has been put down.

Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. Apparently, Boise residents want to be informed and listen to country music. Although we love our Boise Daily followers and people who choose to read news, this story shows many of you also want to listen to the news. BoiseDev editor Don Day reports the latest radio ratings are out for Boise. Country station The Bull 101.9 is listened to more than any other station in the area while News Talk KBOI was second. Joey & Lauren of My 102.7 picked up that coveted spot of top morning show. (boisedev)
  2. If you have sat on the Connector, broken down in your Hyundai or Kia, a new engine could be coming your way. FOX13's John Matarese reports a recent class action settlement, unknown to many, means millions of drivers of a Hyundai or Kia may be eligible for a free engine replacement. The settlement includes car models from 2011 to 2019. Additional information on your specific model can be found at Kia Engine Settlement webpage and Hyundai Warranty Extension webpage. (fox13now)
  3. Garden City Police arrested a man at a local motel for a variety of charges. CBS2 news staff report 63-year-old Glen Hartung was found with 2-pounds of methamphetamines, marijuana, packing materials, and a loaded firearm. Hartung also picked up a charge for failing to update his sex offender registry. (idahonews)
  4. If you frequent downtown Boise, you may deal with lack of parking spaces, hot sidewalks, a panhandler or two and now...rabid bats. KTVB-TV staff write a bat found on a sidewalk on Bannock Street on July 26 tested positive for rabies. In the same week, two additional dead bats were found in the same area. Authorities are urging pet owners to contact a veterinarian if your pet picked up a bat near Cecil D. Andrus Park. (ktvb)
  5. Boise Patch carries the sad news Mudiwa, Zoo Boise's 22-year-old female lion, was euthanized Tuesday. Test results following her passing confirm the lion was suffering from kidney cancer that had metastasized to her intestines, liver and lungs. (BoisePatch)
