Boise Residents Paying Less For Air Conditioning Than Most

According to a recent survey of total energy costs, Idaho ranks 46th in the nation for total energy payments and 48th for electrical costs.

BOISE, ID — The recent unprecedented heat translates to air conditioners running like crazy in Boise.

The good news, according to wallethub.com, is Boise and other Idahoans pay substantially less for total energy costs each month than the rest of the United States.

Idaho is ranked 46th in the nation for energy spending. The average Idahoan pays $298 monthly in energy costs. The total includes $114 in electrical (39th in the nation), $26 in natural gas (33rd in the nation), $157 in gasoline (16th in the nation) and $1 in heating oil (24th in the nation).

By comparison, Connecticut residents pay $411 each month for energy costs to lead the nation.

The only states lagging behind Idaho are Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, Washington and the District of Columbia.
