Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the Boise Daily. We start with a group of high school students unhappy their mascot has been killed after passage of an Idaho law. A local NFL player is returning to Boise to provide his expertise to the younger generation, and one Boise man is touring his new home after winning a drawing for a good cause. We have the newest jobs on the market, and we end today's newsletter with the announcement nobody wants to hear: $5 per gallon gas will be here by the end of the week.

- Students from Boise's Timberline High School are upset after learning wolf pups, their mascots, were killed by the state. IdahoEdNews reporter Clark Corbin spoke with Wolves' Tree Club members who are fighting back with testimony before the Idaho Fish and Game Commission and with articles seen in the Washington Post, the Idaho Statesman and the New Yorker magazine. The pups, part of the Timberline pack, were killed in 2021 after the passage of Senate Bill 1211 by the Idaho Legislature. (Idaho EdNews)
- A Dallas Cowboy is returning to Boise to help the next round of NFL linebackers. CBS2 news staff report Cowboy Linebacker Leighton Vander Esch is back in the capital city on June 17 for a youth football camp. The Pro Bowler will be assisted by university coaches and former teammates. The article has information on signing up and cost. (idahonews)
- Boise resident William Weaver is a happy man. KTVB-TV staff announced in a live broadcast Weaver is the winner of the 2022 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, a $700,000 home in Star. Although not a home, Boise's Sharron Butler was also a winner as she is headed towards a shopping spree at Mor Furniture after results of the drawing were held. (KTVB)

- We left this story to the last as this is good news for nobody. KIVI-TV's Meredith Spelbring reports gas prices are expected to hit the $5 per gallon mark in Boise by the end of the week. As usual, Boise is above the national average of $4.86, according to AAA. The average price is $1.62 higher than one year ago in Idaho. (kivitv)
