Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- It was not a train leaving the Boise Depot on Saturday, but over 2,400 little feet as the Capitol Classic Kids Race was ran for the 38th year. KTVB-TV staff were also on hand to witness the event, back after a two-year delay due to the pandemic. In addition to the one-mile race, a three block course was also set up for kids of all abilities. (KTVB.com)
- Boise's Collister United Methodist Church had some unused property and also recognized the growing problem of homelessness in Boise. Putting to two together, the church is in the process of building two four-bedroom homes and will soon house two families currently experiencing the problem of no place to live. CBS2's Angela Kerndi speaks with church officials regarding the need for housing in the valley and why the church chose this way to help. (idahonews)
- One way to start a new week is by looking into the purchase of a new home. Boise Patch offers five new open houses you can visit to start your week. If you are looking for that backyard for a summer barbecue, Boise Patch may just have that home ready for move in. (Boise Patch)
- If you have friends or family in Tennessee, you may just be the hit of the next neighborhood party. You need to call them today, direct them to visit the Mountain Dew Outpost at Doe Mountain, Tennessee to purchase and ship back to Boise a case of Mountain Dew's limited Dill Pickle Mountain Dew. Taste of Home's Amrita Thakkar warns you only have until June 12 as the flavor will not be in local stores. (tasteofhome)
- A round of golf and and a beer is not unusual for Boise, but the coupling could soon be a year-round experience. BoiseDev reporter Anna Daly writes Sockeye Brewing has announced plans for a 12,000 square foot brewery complete with a 9-hole indoor putting course. The Sockeye Alehouse will take over an old garden center on 36th Street in Boise's North End. (boisedev)
