Here are the top three stories in Boise today:

  1. In case you missed it — Following a recent storm, the nonprofit organization Artisans For Hope faced significant damage to their basement facility, impacting their ability to assist incoming refugees. The organization helps refugees learn skills, find employment, and integrate into the community. However, the flood damage has disrupted their operations, including their classroom and gift shop. Despite the setback, Artisans For Hope remains determined to participate in Boise's World Refugee Day, where they will sell their work to support their ongoing mission of assisting refugees in the area. 2. Boise's Village Leadership Academy will be downsizing to a smaller facility after defaulting on its building loan, as part of a plan to improve its financial situation. The school's current building is too large and expensive to maintain, and its student population has significantly decreased since 2019. The relocation to a more affordable facility fulfills one of the renewal conditions set by the Charter Commission and will provide a stable foundation for the school's future success, despite the departure of the current administrator. (Idaho Press)
  3. Boise State University, in collaboration with other regional universities, has been awarded a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation to explore and develop technologies based on quantum physics. The research aims to position Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming as leaders in quantum technologies, which have applications in communications, computing, and other fields. The project will focus on building a sustainable quantum supply chain, fostering economic development, and advancing workforce development in the region. (Boise State)
