Hey, Boise! It's Tuesday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on today in Boise.

Football fans were scrambling to cancel motel reservations and return airline tickets to Arizona as the Boise State football team called off a scheduled bowl game just four days prior to kickoff. A man is in jail after stating he helped his roommate commit suicide in Star and nearly half of Idaho's school board candidates waited awhile telling voters where their money originated. Idaho stands to receive a large chunk of money from the opioid settlement and the Boise Daily presents readers a moral dilemma close to our own job-should mug shots be included in stories just due to a person being charged with a crime?

Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. Boise State football is staying home. CBS2 news staff and others learned the Broncos will not be participating in this Friday's Barstool Arizona Bowl after a Tweet was released by Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy. The Tweet cites a high number of COVID-19 cases on the team. BSU has confirmed the information in an email and shut down all team activities. (idahonews)
  2. A Nampa man is currently in the Ada County Jail after a body was found in Star. KTVB news staff report Dakota Travis Honeycutt of Nampa is charged with felony counts of assisting a suicide and destruction of evidence. Honeycutt told police that he drove the victim to the park and watched him shoot himself, but did not harm the other man. (KTVB)
  3. Nearly half of candidates waited until after school board elections were completed before telling voters where their campaign money originated. IdahoEdNews reporter Blake Jones writes the delay in reporting is within the law. (idahoednews)
  4. Idaho will see approximately $119 million after agreeing to a settlement in a national opioid lawsuit. KIVI-TV carries the Associated Press story. (6 On Your Side)
  5. This situation may have occurred to a friend, relative or even yourself. An incident takes place, an arrest is made and a mugshot is used in a news story. Months later, the charges are dropped but the mugshot remains out there on the web. Law enforcement agencies are changing policy and not routinely publishing mugshots unless they serve a clear law enforcement purpose — like finding a suspect or a missing person. According to the Oregonian's Keri Blakinger, Oregon will no longer release mugshots after January 1 except for certain circumstances. Ada County maintains mugshots on a website available to the public. (oregonlive)
