Here are the top three stories today in Boise:
- Boise State University's plans for renovations and upgrades to its athletic facilities, including Albertsons Stadium, are progressing with the release of renderings and a project timeline. The project, known as the "Athletic Master Village," aims to enhance the fan experience and improve structural deficits. Construction for the north-end zone addition is expected to begin in April 2024 and be completed by August 2025, pending approval and funding. (Idaho Press)
- Idaho State Representative Sue Chew, the longest-serving Democratic lawmaker in Idaho, has announced her retirement after her ninth term expires next year, opening a seat that represents Southwest Boise. Chew, who has been a legislator for 18 years, cited the emergence of a strong potential candidate to fill her seat as one of the reasons for her retirement. She plans to dedicate more time to community groups and organizations. (Aol.com)
- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Vale District is considering changes at the nearby Snively Hot Springs Recreation Site due to violations and criminal behavior. BLM staff is placing boulders around the area to discourage camping, as the site is only open for day use. Violations of camping rules have led to other crimes, such as illegal drug use and underage drinking. The BLM plans to enforce nighttime closure more strictly and issue citations for trespassing and federal violations. For more information, contact Vale District BLM Public Affairs Officer Larisa Bogardus at (541) 219-6863. (KTVB 7)
