  1. Boise residents may soon have a short drive to "hit on a soft 17" or throw some cash down on a "daily double running in the fifth." BoiseDev senior reporter Margaret Carmel broke the news two Native American tribes are looking at building casinos, one located in Mountain Home. The Shoshone-Bannock tribe purchased 157 acres of land in 2020 near Mountain Home and have plans for building a $311 million, 500,000 square-foot casino, including a 250-room hotel, six restaurants, a 15,000 square-foot event center, an 8-lane bowling alley, two movie theaters, and an arcade. Plans also include a horse racing track. Tribal members will vote Sept. 23 on going forward with the plan. The tribe currently operates a casino near Pocatello. A second tribe, the Shoshone-Paiute tribe, has also expressed an interest in building a casino near Mountain Home, but have not purchased land. (boisedev)
  2. Sentencing will go forward Aug. 31 in an Ada County courtroom for former state Rep.
