Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. The cause of the massive fire at the Idaho Youth Ranch warehouse may never be known. KIVI-TV's Jake Garcia writes the Boise Fire Department has completed an investigation and classified the fire cause as undetermined. The investigation stated due to firefighting efforts and amount of water used to extinguish the fire, "determining the cause was impractical." Crews used 638,000 gallons of water to battle the blaze. (kivitv)
  2. Idaho teachers are becoming inventive when figuring ways to obtain supplies for their classrooms. IdahoEdNews reporter Sadie Dittenber reports hundreds of Idaho teachers are going online, using sites DonorsChoose, Amazon Wish List, GoFundMe, along with AdoptAClassroom.org to raise funds for materials. Some school districts are not pleased with the method with some banning teachers from using online fundraising. Teachers state online fundraising has assisted in money needed for classrooms and teachers no longer need to use their own cash to bring in needed items to those students needing help. (idahoednews)
  3. If you miss jury duty, you don't pay a fine over the phone. If you receive a phone call stating a rental car in your name was involved in a crime, you don't pay "legal expenses" over the phone. Boise Patch and the City of Boise offer assistance in recognizing scams so your hard-earned money is not stolen. (Boise Patch)
  4. A young Boise cyclist is quickly becoming among the elite in racing, including a third-place finish in the recent Boise's 35th Annual Twilight Criterium. Boise State Public Radio's Hannah Gardoski speaks with 13-year-old Tessa Bebee, a member of the Boise Young Rider Development Squad. (boisestatepublicradio)
  5. Oops. An Ada County Republican Central Committee official received a homeowner exemption on two homes in the county. The exemption, legal to only the primary residence of a homeowner, was provided to two homes owned by Travis Clyde, the organizer behind Keep Ada Red, according to BoiseDev senior reporter Margaret Carmel. Clyde had no comment on the mistake, but Ada County Assessor Bob McQuade accepted full blame for the misstep while also noting Clyde failed to complete a line on the application asking for information on a second home.
