Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. The City of Boise has announced a settlement with a former Boise City Library employee. KTVB-TV staff report the former employee, Jax Perez, was discriminated against due to their non-binary, transgender identity through a series of disciplinary actions in 2019, according to findings by an independent state agency. In a press release issued by the city, it stated, "The settlement was reached after both parties evaluated the merits of the case and the resources required for extensive litigation." (KTVB.com)
  2. It is once again time to bring Boise Daily readers up to date on the most recent happenings in the Lori Vallow Daybell/Chad Daybell cases. EastIdahoNews reporter Nate Easton writes the January trial for Lori, originally scheduled for Boise, has been postponed until her mental competency can be determined. Her case was previously paused after she was declared incompetent for trial and committed to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in June 2021. Ten months later, she was deemed competent and proceedings resumed. Daybell and her husband Chad have pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan – two of Lori’s kids – along with Chad’s previous wife, Tammy Daybell. The Daybell’s joint trial was scheduled to begin in January. (eastidahonews)
  3. Lovers of old stuff can rejoice as Boise's Antique World Mall reopens Monday. CBS2 news staff report the mall closed after a roof collapse in late June, but repairs have been made and the 150 dealers have restocked and ready for business starting at 10 a.m. (Idaho News)
  4. Just in time to purchase the turkey and all the fixings, the Idaho Capital Sun's Clark Corbin writes Idahoans who filed their taxes on time should expect to see special session tax rebate checks by Thanksgiving. The state has already issued 192,000 rebate checks totaling $133 million so far. (idahocapitalsun)
  5. If you have a muddy vehicle and also wish to have the crap scared out of you, LITE-FM's Michelle Heart has the answer. Three Boise area car washes are preparing for a few days of haunted car washes. You will drive through and leave with a sparkling vehicle and trembling hands and the proceeds will be donated to a local non-profit. (liteonline)
