  1. Boise Patch and the Boise School District is once again putting the word out regarding in-person Community Education classes, as well as online courses. This is your chance to learn a new style of cooking, discover some new dance numbers, explore a new culture, and brush up your gardening skills. You can look over and enroll in an array of classes at www.boiselearns.org. (Boise Patch)
  2. A proposed new development in southwest Boise is facing opposition from neighbors, not due to traffic or congestion, but because of water. CBS2 reporter Angela Kerndl writes residents near Lake Hazel Road, north of the New York Canal, and in between Maple Grove and Cole Roads, are already reporting wells drying up. They fear a development of 3,500 homes on 384 acres of current farmland will only increase the problem of lack of water. The current farmland use recharges the shallow aquifer while homes would not accomplish this natural occurrence. (Idaho News)
  3. Friday, Oct. 14 is the final day to pre-register to vote in the upcoming Nov. 8 election, according to the Idaho Capital Sun's Clark Corbin. If you are heading to the Ada County Clerk's office, be there by 5 p.m. and if choosing the online option at www.voteidaho.gov, the deadline is 11:59 p.m. You can check the same web address to determine if you are already registered to vote, request an absentee ballot, find your polling location or check which legislative and congressional districts you live in. 4. There are stories outside of Boise that are so compelling the Boise Daily brings them to our followers. KTVB-TV staff report a body found floating under the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls back in September of 2014 by a kayaker has finally been identified. Using DNA from a family member, the body is that of Cynthia Gunnerson, or Sasha Ergateage from San Diego, California. The death has been classified a suicide. (ktvb)
  5. Could you spend six months in jail for your leaves in Boise? LITE-FM's Michelle warns Boise residents sweeping or raking those brown, red and yellow leaves into the street could get you in some hot water. Under Idaho code, leaves are considered debris and you could face a fine of $2,500 or six months in jail for the misdemeanor. A better alternative is stuffing those giant paper bags, setting them on the curb and let the city pick them up. (liteonline)
