The legislation allows teaching critical race theory, but prohibits forcing belief systems onto students. Language in bill states teachings “exacerbate and inflame divisions on the basis of sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, national origin, or other criteria”.

Co-sponsor Rep. Julianne Young, R-Blackfoot, stated during debate on the bill it is "abudantly clear" the Biden adminstration would push for critcal race theory at the federal level.

With the legislation now law, lawmakers should be able to go forward on a recently $1.1 billion teacher salary budget, one recently voted down. An additional $315 higher education budget, also voted down, should also reappear. A $6 million federal early education grant bill remains in the House, but could see light after the governor's signature.
