Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. Day three of Boise's Lori Vallow Daybell trial is in the books with juror selection continuing. EastIdahoNews reporter Nate Easton continues to provide updates. The last three days of updates shows how difficult it is to find 12 jurors plus alternates who can place their life on hold for 8 to 12 weeks. On Wednesday, a single mom was dismissed as she is the lone employee at her job. A father was excused after explaining he purchased plane tickets to see his son's track meet in California. A mother of five was dismissed after admitting she could not be fair and impartial. (eastidahonews)
  2. The influx of people moving to Idaho is slowing. The IdahoCapitalSun's Mia Maldonado reports in 2022, Idaho’s population grew by 1.8 percent, making it the state with the second-highest growth rate behind Florida. Ada County continued to show births outnumbering deaths adding to the population growth. Ada County also added 500 people from outside the United States. The data also shows more people moving to rural counties in the state. (idahocapitalsun)
  3. The Boise City Council has two new faces, and both are attorneys. CBS2 news staff report Mayor McLean has chosen Latonia Haney Keith and Colin Nash to fill two Boise City Council vacancies. 54 interested persons applied for the two open seats. (idahonews)
  4. Choosing to eat out in Boise, the alternatives are endless. One option may be overlooked by most hungry Boise residents. KIDO-AM's Nikki West reports a blog called Loveexploring ranked the best truck stops in each state and for Idaho, Boise's own Boise Stage Stop is the best in the state. Opened in 1891, it makes it one of the oldest continually operating businesses in Idaho. It is one of the few places to grab a T-bone for breakfast and a slice of homemade pie. (KIDO Talk Radio)
  5. If you are waiting for a bill from St. Luke’s Health System, the letter may not arrive. BoiseDev managing editor Gretchen Parsons reports the local health care provider sent 15,246 patients' bills to the wrong address. The letters contained the name of the patient and the person responsible for the bill, billing and payment tracking numbers, the amount owed, and the date of service. (boisedev)
