1. It appears Boise will likely be hosting the Chad Daybell trial according to Nate Easton of the Eastern Idaho News. On Friday, Oct. 8, Seventh District Judge Steven Boyce granted Daybell’s request to move the trial from Fremont County and it will likely end up in Boise. Daybell and his wife Lori Vallow Daybell are charged with multiple crimes, including conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree murder. The charges are in relation to the deaths of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan — two of Lori’s kids — and Chad’s first wife, Tammy Daybell. Lori’s case is on hold after Boyce committed her to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in June when a mental health professional deemed her unfit for trial. (eastidahonews)

2. Masks will continue in the state's largest school district, West Ada. Also, according to CBS2 news staff, a special board meeting will occur on Wednesday dealing with COVID-19. (idahonews)

3. Boise residents may soon have another reason for a trip to Jackpot, NV other than cheap drinks and a crap table. In an Associated Press story in the Boise Weekly, Elko County Commissioners approved a marijuana shop to open in the small gambling mecca on the Idaho/Nevada border. (idahopress)

4. The City of Boise gained over one hundred acres as reported by BoiseDev reporter Margaret Carmel. The city annexed the 132 acres of land in Southwest Boise into city limits. This included 128 acres owned by the Boise Independent School District near its administrative office south of Victory Road and 4.25 acres owned by the Boise Airport a few blocks to the east.
