Hello again, everybody! It's me, John Braese, your host of the Daily. Here are all the most important things to know about what's happening in town. Today you'll find news about:

  • Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow Daybell will be tried together, but when opening arguments will start in Boise is still uncertain.
  • The University of Idaho will decide soon on students returning back to classes after the holiday with still no suspect in custody after four students were found murdered.
  • A recently retired Boise Police officer is using his retirement to attend white nationalist conferences.

Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. The Daybell couple will be tried together and Lori Vallow Daybell is again competent to stand trial. In our weekly update on the upcoming trial to be held in Boise, eastidahonews reporter Kaitlyn Hart reports Judge Steven Boyce has ruled against Chad Daybell's request to sever his case from his wife's. The Daybells are charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the deaths of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan – two of Lori’s kids – along with Daybell’s previous wife, Tammy Daybell. The trial was to start in January, but a postponement was granted. No new trial date has been set. (eastidahonews)
  2. To spend the least amount of money on that upcoming Thanksgiving meal, head to Winco according to a test by BoiseDev's Anna Daly, Don Day and Gretchen Parsons. The three armed themselves with identical lists to purchase the upcoming big meal and hit six local stores. (boisedev.com)
  3. Many University of Idaho students have returned back to Boise and the surrounding areas for the Thanksgiving break. After a quadruple homicide one week ago, IdahoEdNews reporter Sadie Dittenber reports Idaho's oldest school of higher learning are examining the school’s approach to the remainder of the academic year.   4. A former Boise Police Captain has voiced his views on minorities.CBS2 news staff report Matt Bryngelson recently participated in a white nationalist conference and video has cropped up with Bryngelson discussing his beliefs. Bryngelson retired from Boise Police in August. (idahonews)
  5. The Boise State University football team has claimed the Mountain Division title and the right to host the Mountain West Championship game coming up on Dec. 3. KTVB-TV's Zack Armstrong takes a look at the Broncos win over Wyoming in Laramie. (ktvb)
