  1. The State of Idaho is free to pursue to seek a death warrant against death row inmate Gerald Pizzuto. KTVB-TV carries a story by Associated Press writer Rebecca Boone reporting the Idaho Supreme Court says it will not reconsider the clemency case of Pizutto for his role in the 1985 slayings of two gold prospectors near McCall. Once issued, the warrant would set Pizzuto’s execution by lethal injection in the next 30 days. (KTVB.com)
  2. Boise will not see a trial of Chad Daybell in January. In our weekly update on the Chad Daybell/Lori Vallow Daybell cases, East Idaho News reporter Nate Easton writes a judge granted a motion by Daybell's attorney to continue the trial to a later date. The decision came late Friday and supplements an earlier ruling to suspended all matters in Lori Daybell’s case earlier this month until her mental competency can be determined. Daybell and his wife Lori Vallow Daybell have pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan – two of Lori’s kids – along with Chad’s previous wife, Tammy Daybell. 3. A Halloween party in Caldwell ended with the shooting of three people. CBS2 news staff report the incident occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday in the 3000 block of S. Illinois Avenue where a very large Halloween party was taking place. Two party goers were kicked out of the festivities with a car driving by later firing a gun into the residence. (idahonews)
  4. A Meridian resident is asking the court to allow her to stay in her tiny home while a lawsuit makes it through the court system. BoiseDev reporter Margaret Carmel writes Chasidy Decker and Robert Calcal filed a lawsuit against the City of Meridian after Decker was asked to leave her tiny home she rented on Calcal’s property. Decker is asking the court to remain in her home until the lawsuit is complete and consider a request to outright dismiss the suit as requested by the City of Meridian. (boisedev)
  5. This next story may be too far to drive for just trick or treat, but you need to love a good ghost story. KIVI-TV's Don Nelson reports on the Idaho Hotel in Silver City. Take a quick read of screaming Alice, the big gentleman with tux and tails and the children, all reported to be residents of the hotel but not paying guests. (kivitv)

Patch deal of the day:

Good knives make all the difference in the kitchen, but you don’t need to overpay for them. Seido Japanese knives are made with strong high-carbon stainless steel (high-carbon knives are more durable and usually more expensive) and have an acute 15-degree angle for a noticeably sharper cutting face (most Western-style knives have edge angles of 25 degrees). For a limited time, Patch readers can get a 5-piece Seido Japanese master knife set for 71 percent off. At just under $70, this chef-quality set is perfect for any home cook and would also make a great gift for the holidays.
