🌱 Deadly Boise Crash + Local Voter Turnout Numbers + Star McDonalds

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Boise.

Morning, friends! It's me, John Braese, your host of the Daily. Let's get this Tuesday started off right, with a quick dive into everything you need to know about what's happening around town.

We start today's edition of the Boise Daily with the sad news of two local youth dead after a crash on 184. Idahoans were apparently not eager to cast ballots in great numbers for the May primary, and we have photos of 31 visitors to Idaho now being nationally discussed. We have new pets for the week and Star may soon be home to McNuggets.

Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. Two teenage boys are dead after a crash on Interstate 184 Sunday evening. KTVB-TV staff write the driver of a small car lost control before going off the right side of the road and struck a light pole on the West Fairview Avenue on-ramp. The two have been identified as Henry Warner, 16, from Meridian, and the passenger, Braden Caldwell, 16, from Boise. (KTVB.com)
  2. Less than one in three Idahoans decided to cast a vote in the state' s May 17 primary. The Idaho Capital Sun's Clark Corbin writes final numbers for the state election shows 32.5 percent of voters participated. Ada County numbers came in even lower than the rest of the state as 31.5 percent filled out a ballot. Statewide, almost one fourth of voters decided to vote early or by absentee ballot. The article includes numbers by county for the entire state. (idahocapitalsun)
  3. Idaho is known for welcoming visitors and new residents to our great state, but here are 31 exceptions. CBS2 news staff have a gallery of the 31 individuals arrested over the weekend at the Coeur d'Alene Pride event. The group were found in the back of a U-Haul truck and have been identified as members of the Patriot Front. All have been charged with conspiracy to riot, a misdemeanor. (idahonews)
  4. Boise Patch is looking for that hiker needing a new running buddy or that family needing a new mouser. A new week is a new list of dogs, cats and more looking for new homes. (Boise Patch)
  5. It was not that many years past Star, Idaho consisted of a small store and a few houses scattered about. Now, according to BoiseDev editor Don Day, the fast-growing community is set to go big time with the golden arches. McDonald’s Real Estate LLC recently purchased 0.93 acres of land on the corner of State and Taurus Way. (boisedev)
