A Meridian man is spending his weekend in his new home courtesy of an organization helping out veterans and we let you in on how to enroll for summer courses at a local college. A candidate for Idaho's top education job is facing some legal issues in Washington and we provide you a chance to solve some missing children cases.

Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- A man waving a gun in downtown Boise was taken into custody Friday evening. CBS2 news staff report the man attempted to run off when police arrive, but he was caught and taken into custody. (Idaho News)
- A veteran of three tours in Iraq and his family now have a new home in Meridian courtesy of Operation Finally Home. KIVI-TV's Steve Dent was present when Jason Plank and his family were presented the keys to the new home. (6 On Your Side)
- If you are thinking of picking up a class or two this summer, the College of Western Idaho opens registration for summer classes on Monday, Feb. 28. Summer classes begin Monday, June 6. (Boise Patch)
- A candidate for Idaho state superintendent of schools is accused of encouraging an act of child abuse, according to a temporary protection order granted this week by a Washington state court. The IdahoEdNews Ruth Brown writes Brandon Durst and his current wife were reported by a Washington state doctor after Durst's oldest child reported he was held down by Durst's wife and beat with a wooden spoon. - LITE-FM's Chris has a list of missing children, some going back to the 70s, who could still be in Boise. The story includes age-progressed photos of what the missing child may look like today. (liteonline.com)

- The College of Southern Idaho presents the film, Alternative Facts: The Lies of Executive Order 9066. Alternative Facts sheds light on the people and politics that influenced the signing of the infamous Executive Order 9066, which authorized the mass incarceration of nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans (13,000 were incarcerated at nearby Minidoka). The film exposes the lies used to justify the decision and the cover-up that went all the way to the United States Supreme Court. The film also examines the parallels to the current climate of fear, attitudes towards immigrant communities, and similar attempts to abuse the powers of the government.(2:30 p.m.)
