Here are the top three stories in Boise today:
- The Boise City/Ada County Housing Authorities officially closed the application portal for their Emergency Rental Assistance Program. This initiative was established as a result of the pandemic and focuses on helping people keep a roof over their heads in a time of struggle. Overall, the program helped more than 14,000 people and distributed close to $70 million in rental relief. (KTVB)
- The Village Leadership Academy located in Boise will be downsizing to a smaller facility after failing to make loan payments. According to representatives from the school, the building is currently too large and expensive to maintain and they will now be moving to a new location on Goldstone Drive in Meridian. This move is the final step in their multi-year plan to increase the school's finances and obtain more of a balanced budget when it comes to paying for certain aspects. (IdahoEdNews.com)
- After a run-in with Boise Police Officers last year, local activist Ty Werenka has officially filed a $1 million lawsuit against the city. He claims that the police officers violated his rights with an unreasonable search and seizure, false arrest, and malicious prosecution, and assaulted him while he was filming the officers at a different time. In addition, the activist alleges that the officers also violated his first amendment rights causing him emotional distress. (Boisedev.com)
