Happy Thursday, people of Boise! Let's start today off on an informed note. Here's everything happening in town today.

Welcome to the Thursday edition of the Boise Daily. With the holidays around the corner, the Idaho Foodbank is preparing to help those in need. The Idaho Legislature wasted no time in passing bills related to vaccines, and Micron may be preparing for a major expansion right here in Boise. Nov. 20 is National Adoption Day, and we ask the important question, turkey or ham?

  1. The Idaho Foodbank is gearing up for the holidays. KIVI-TV's Evelyn Avitia introduces the Hope for the Holidays campaign, an effort to feed 2 million meals each month with the help of the community. (6 On Your Side)
  2. The Idaho House of Representatives is not wasting any time now they have returned to Boise. The Idaho Capital Sun reporter Clark Corbin reports the House has passed seven bills aimed at fighting COVID-19 rules from the federal government and employers, or providing exemptions from mandates.   3. The BoiseDev team of Margaret Carmel and Don Day discuss the possibility of Micron making a major expansion right here in Boise. The Boise-based business announced it would spend up to $150 billion globally to beef up the supply chain for semiconductor chips. (boisedev.com)
  4. So, for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, are you a turkey or ham lover? LITE-FM's Jess was unable to find data on if Boise preferred the bird or the glaze so is taking a poll from readers on their choice of what will be on the table. (liteonline)
  5. Nov. 20 is National Adoption Day and the Idaho court system is recognizing the importance of finding long-term homes for children in need. KMTV news staff report there are currently 117 foster children awaiting adoption in Idaho. (KMVT)

  • Waterfowl are some of the most common birds to see during the S.W. Idaho winter. Join local bird expert Louisa Evers for a beginner-friendly class all about local winter ducks.   • There is a long-standing history of Indigenous musicians in the United States; in Idaho, one of the most famous is Coeur d’Alene tribe member and jazz singer Mildred Bailey. Growing up in a musically-inclined family on the Coeur d’Alene Reservation, Bailey made history as the first woman to sing in a Big Band and to host her own radio show. To learn more about Bailey’s story, as well as stories of Indigenous musicians like Link Wray, Redbone, and Buffy Sainte-Marie, join the Idaho State Museum on Thursday, Nov. 18 for a screening of "Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World." In Idaho, adoption rules state the parents are 25 years of age or at least 15 years older than the child you would like to adopt. While there is no upper age limit, most private agencies prefer that there be no more than 40 years between the age of the parents and the age of the child.
