Morning, everybody! I'm back in your inbox this morning with your fresh edition of the Boise Daily. Let's get this day started off right, with a quick review of everything you need to know about what's happening around town...

We start the Thursday edition of the Boise Daily with a local home fire near the downtown area. Fireworks will not be allowed in the Boise Foothills this summer, and there are many new homes on the market looking for you to tour. The City of Boise was recently honored for the method which it is run, and an Idaho institution in snack bars was just sold to a Chicago-based company.

First, today's weather:

Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. A home near downtown Boise was damaged by a fire Tuesday evening. KTVB-TV staff were on the scene with the Boise Fire Department as the blaze took place on East Lewis Street. Three people in the home escaped without injury as the fire moved from the garage to the main area of the home. (KTVB.com)
  2. Our foothills above the city may look green now, but a few days of hot weather will again turn them dry. Citing fire danger, the Ada County Commission voted 2-1 to ban fireworks in the foothills as reported by BoiseDev reporter Margaret Carmel. Democratic Commissioner Kendra Kenyon and Republican Commissioner Rod Beck voted to approve a ban while Republican Commissioner Ryan Davidson voted against a ban. Those lighting off fireworks in a banned area could face a ticket. (boisedev.com)
  3. With the weather finally turning nice, Boise Patch provides you with the week's listing of open houses. Included in this week's homes to tour is a 4 bed, 3 bath house and a cute North End home among many. A tour, an offer and you could be moving in by Aug. 1. (Boise Patch)
  4. Both Boise and Nampa were recently honored as two of the best-run cities in the nation. CBS2 staff report Wallethub conducted a study of "operating efficiency," on 150 of the U.S. largest cities. Nampa was ranked first in the study, the sixth year in a row for the city while Boise ranked second. The story includes the complete listing for all the cities. (idahonews)
  5. An Idaho staple for hikers, runners and bikers has been sold to a Chicago-based company. Clif Bar, a company started in Twin Falls, is now owned by Mondelēz International, Inc after a sale price of $2.9 billion, according to a story by KIDO-AM's Kevin Miller. The article states the Twin Falls manufacturing facility will remain in the Gem State. (kidotalkradio)
