Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Boise Daily. Although not as low as last year, Boise residents are spending less per gallon on gas compared to last month. Searchers are again at Lucky Peak searching for a drowning victim, and fresh seafood lovers receive some bad news. The "Best of Boise" is out, and the area around our local airport may soon look very different.

Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. The Boise Daily will start today off with good news for everyone. CBS2 news staff report gas prices have fallen below $5.00 per gallon, averaging $4.94 per gallon in Boise. The average price per gallon fell 15.8 cents last week. Gas is now 38.6 cents per gallon cheaper than one month ago, but still $1.04 higher than just one year ago. (idahonews)
  2. Search teams are again at Lucky Peak as a 46-year-old swimmer is presumed drowned after going under the water without resurfacing. KTVB-TV staff write marine deputies were notified Sunday evening of the incident and spent Monday and Tuesday using sonar in 100 feet of water searching. This is the third reported drowning at the local reservoir this summer. (KTVB.com)
  3. Boise residents looking for award-winning fresh lobster will need to wait. LITE-FM's Cort writes Freshies Lobster Co. has announced the plan to open a downtown Boise location has been placed on hold indefinitely. The seafood company was to open in the Warehouse but has since remained quiet on a firm open date. Freshies is known for the signature fresh lobster roll, named as the "World's Best Lobster Roll" in 2017. (107.9 LITE FM)
  4. Stature Salon & Barbershop. Bardenay Restaurant and Distillery. Wahooz Family Fun Zone. Robert Walker. These are just a small sampling of award winners as the Boise Weekly announces its annual "Best of Boise 2022" after weeks of tallying the voting.   5. The area surrounding the Boise Airport may soon look very different. BoiseDev editor Don Day carries the news the Gardner Company has proposed replacing several motels on Vista Avenue with a combination of motels and apartments. Included in the plans are two five-story apartments and the tearing down of the current Ramada by Wyndham and Americas Best Value Inn & Suites. A new Hindu temple is also included in the plans.   • The Open Space and Clean Water Advisory Committee for the City of Boise meets Wednesday. The agenda includes enhancing trail accessibility. (4 p.m.)
  • The weekly Alive After 5 Free Summer Concert Series features Joshy Soul on Wednesday in downtown Boise. (5 p.m.)
  • The PEER Wellness Center sponsors a Smart Family and Friends support meeting Wednesday. (5:30 p.m.)
  • The Boise Public Library is once again holding a listening session for library patrons. Wednesday's session will be held at the Library! at Collister location. This is a chance to provide input on if the library is offering programs and services the community needs. (6 p.m.)
