Here are the top three stories in Boise today:

  1. June is recognized as Pride Month, a time to celebrate and honor the LGBTQ+ community. Boise Pride Festival's vice president expressed that Pride means freedom, while others view it as a celebration of diverse individuals. One tradition in Boise is the display of Pride flags on Harrison Boulevard, although they have faced acts of vandalism in recent years. To counter this, the community is working on new yard signs that promote unity and send a message against hate. (KTVB 7)
  2. The official start of the Boise River float season has arrived in the Treasure Valley, as river flows have dropped to a safe level of approximately 1,200 cubic feet per second. The drop in river flow coincides with rising outside temperatures, making it an opportune time for residents to enjoy floating down the river. Agencies have prepared for the float season, with initial hazard mitigation conducted, but safety precautions, such as wearing life jackets and avoiding tying rafts together, should still be followed. (Idaho Press)
  3. The Handlebar Boise, owned by Ezra Jackson, embraces the essence of bikes, beers, and community. Located on Main Street, the establishment offers a relaxed atmosphere with thoughtful decor, including bike-themed artwork and repurposed elements. The bar hosts events like Thursday Night Races and supports local bike-related causes, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. (Idaho Press)
