Rise and shine, Boise! Let's get this Friday started off right. Here's what's going on today in Boise.

Happy Friday from the Boise Daily. We start with news of a death on the interstate just outside of Boise. The CEO of St Luke's provides an update on the hospital's handling of the recent wave of COVID-19 patients and a group is speaking out on behalf of BSU students wanting to see the Broncos. High school students will be at the capital Friday and a house fire originally engulfing one home spread to a second one.

  1. A late evening crash on I-84 turned tragic as a Boise woman is dead after running out of gas and being struck by a vehicle. KTVB-TV staff report 54-year-old Kala Blush died at the scene. (KTVB.com)
  2. St. Luke's Chris Roth, CEO of Idaho's largest hospital system, spoke with the Idaho Capital Sun's Audrey Dutton recently on the hospital's handling of the COVID-19 crisis. Responding to a number of questions, Roth said of those laughing over the crisis, "It’s like we’re seeing the de-evolution of humanity, right in front of our eyes." (idahocapitalsun)
  3. As the Boise State Broncos take the football field, students must have must show proof of vaccine to sit in the stands, yet the policy does not seem to apply to the ticket buying public. KLIX radio's Bill Cooley reports the Idaho Freedom Foundation is disagreeing with BSU's attendance policy and is making their statements public. (News Radio 1310 KLIX)
  4. A group of high school students from around Boise will lead a walkout on Friday at the Idaho State Capital in solidarity with an international "Fridays For Future" climate strike according to Sami Edge writing for the Idaho Education News. Student speeches begin at noon and will go throughout the lunch hour. (idahoednews)
  5. A house fire spread to a second house next door on Wednesday evening and staff from CBS2 news were present. Families living in both homes are displaced and being assisted. (Idaho News)
