Here are the top three stories today in Boise:
- The occupancy at a hotel in downtown Boise continues to rise after funding to help the homeless community is confirmed. According to Interfaith Sanctuary's Director Jodi Peterson-Stigers, there are currently 18 families and 21 medically vulnerable guests checked into the Red Lion, which totals out to be around 83 people staying in 40 different rooms. Occupancy numbers were down at the beginning of this year due to funding, but now with this new flexibility, rooms are quickly filling up. (Boisedev.com)
- Idaho State Police recently celebrated Corporal David Wesche and Communications Center Supervisor Raymond Shute for their heroic efforts in rescuing a missing 11-year-old child from a remote wilderness in Idaho. Their dedication and collaboration led to the successful location of the father and son at a campsite, despite challenging conditions. In recognition of their exceptional contributions, Wesche received a Distinguished Achievement Award, while Shute received a Hero's Award and a Letter of Commendation for his valuable assistance. - Yesterday the Idaho National Guard organized a poignant Memorial Day dedication ceremony at the picturesque Gowen Field Memorial Park. This solemn gathering served as a tribute to the brave individuals who selflessly served our cherished nation and made the ultimate sacrifice. As a heartfelt gesture, over 20 memorial bricks, symbolizing the fallen Idaho soldiers, airmen, citizens, and beloved family members, were laid and recognized during the ceremony, ensuring their memory lives on.
