Here are the top three stories in Boise today:
- Starting in June, Idaho Power rates are set to increase following the approval of two rate changes by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. The first change is a power cost adjustment (PCA), which allows Idaho Power to adjust rates based on the actual cost of providing power to customers, influenced by factors such as river flow, power purchase, fuel costs, and market prices. The second change is a fixed cost adjustment (FCA) that primarily affects residential and small commercial customers, aimed at compensating for the difference between estimated and actual costs. On average, residential customers can expect an overall increase of about $11 per month, or approximately 10 percent. Learn more here. (Idaho 6 News)
- The Plummer Skills & Thrills Challenge, hosted by former NFL quarterback Jake Plummer, returned to Bishop Kelly High School for its eighth annual event. The free clinic, organized in partnership with Tim Brady from the Idaho Youth Sports Commission, aims to encourage kids to participate in multiple sports and have fun. This year, the camp grew, and thanks to generous sponsors, 33 kids received new pairs of shoes. Learn more here. (KTVB 7 News)
- The Boise City Council meeting will address a request for a public hearing regarding an excess to Ada County Highway District for Pedestrian Right of Way. If approved, the public hearing will take place on Jun. 27 at the Maryanne Jordan City Council Chambers in Boise. The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on the third floor of City Hall. (Idaho 2 News)
