Here are the top three stories in Boise today:

  1. Idaho researchers, including those at Boise State University, were awarded $24 million to study the impacts of changes in climate, population, and technology on energy and water use in the state. The funding was awarded through a $20 million, five-year award from the National Science Foundation. The project is titled Idaho Community-Engaged Resilience for Energy-Water Systems (I-CREWS). (Boise State University)
  2. According to the U.S. Department of Education, two Idaho students were named 2023 Presidential Scholars. Shiva Rajbhandari of Boise is the first student to sit on a local school board and has received national recognition for his groundbreaking election. Both students are two out of more than 5,000 candidates qualified for the scholarships. (Idaho EdNews)
  3. The Harris Rand CID Taxpayers' Association is back in court for the second time as its neighbors argue paying additional property taxes is unconstitutional. This is part of a long-running dispute between the neighbors of the Southeast Boise subdivision. The first petition is still being reviewed, so it is unsure if the second one will be considered.
