🌱 Idaho Vape Money + Local Agri-Tourism + Boise Bagel Mystery
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Boise.

Hi all! I'm back in your inbox this morning with everything you need to know about what's happening in Boise. Without further ado...
Our reader question asking your opinion of a four-day school week has already elicited responses. Stephanie is in favor, writing "Yes to a 4-day school week. Or shorter days. The kids are in school for such a crazy long day, I actually think it’s unhealthy to be tied to a desk or short recesses until 4:00. I wish they would offer 4 days or earlier dismissal. I contemplate moving or homeschool all the time for this reason. My son is 6 and 8-4 everyday seems crazy."
Thank you, Stephanie, for your thoughts.

The Friday edition of the Boise Daily starts with a family's plan to keep the family farm in the black with agri-tourism. A local school district is asking opinions of where to spend money and keep this list of where to go for U-pick this fall. Boise bagel lovers really don't have any answers for a proposed downtown location, and the state will be receiving a check after a vape maker agreed to a settlement.
First, today's weather:

Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- A local family made the decision not to sell off the family farm and watch it become subdivisions. KIVI-TV's Steve Dent speaks with Dion and Debbie Flaming, longtime owners of Flaming Acres Farm. Keeping agriculture alive, the family turned to agri-tourism to supplement the typical farm income. (kivitv)
- Should your child's school have better sidewalks? Or should the school have expanded career-technical education facilities? Or should the building have an expanded area for the fine arts? IdahoEdNews reporter Devin Bodkin writes the West Ada School District recently sent a 41-question survey to some 80,000 community members asking opinions on local population growth, overcrowding in schools and what factors should determine the need to renovate or replace buildings. Patrons are responding as already, 7,000 had completed and returned the survey by Wednesday. (idahoednews)
- The days are cooler and perfect to take a day and pick your own fruits and vegetables with local farmers. FromBoise prints a listing of not only fruit and vegetable farms, but also U-Pick flower farms in the local area. Apple and pumpkin season are just around the corner so keep this list. (fromboise)
- Boise bagel lovers continue to wait and there still is no answer. BoiseDev editor Don Day looks at the proposed downtown location of Jekyll & Hyde, a still vacant bagel bakery on Main Street. Still empty since a building permit was issued in 2018, the question of when if ever remains. (boisedev)
- The State of Idaho will soon be $8.3 million richer as electronic cigarette maker Juul has agreed to pay nearly $440 million to settle an investigation into its marketing. Boise State Public Radio forwards a story by Will Walkey reporting an investigation found that Juul’s online campaigns used youthful models and often downplayed the negative side effects of vaping. Juul didn’t admit to any wrongdoing in this settlement. (Boise State Public Radio)
