Idahoans Can Shoot 90% Of State's Wolves
Idaho Governor Brad Little Sign Senate Bill 1211, authorizing the killing of 1,350 wolves in the state.

BOISE, ID — Under new Idaho law, hunters will be able to shoot wolves from snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles and use night-vision equipment while bringing the population down to approximately 150.

Governor Brad Little signed into law Senate Bill 1211, legislation backed by the agricultural industry in the state. The measure is expected to bring the population down to 150 from its current 1,500 status. State money will also be used to hire contractors to kill wolves.

Opponents to the bill included the Idaho Fish and Game Commission and animal rights groups. Testimony during the bill's hearing said the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service may take back management of the wolves if numbers fall.
