Up and at 'em, Boise! Let's get you all caught up to start this Friday, Nov. 19 off on an informed note. Here's what's happening today in Boise.

We start the Boise Daily with news of a Boise squirrel on the mend after being shot with an arrow. A recent statewide Amber Alert, now resolved, resulted in the arrest of a Boise woman on kidnapping charges. The Idaho Legislature's brief stint in Boise is done without much to discuss, while voters in Oregon may soon vote on legalizing the sex trade just across the border from Boise. Finally, check those skis as Bogus will be open soon.

  1. The Idaho Humane Society recently helped out a squirrel found shot by an arrow on Boise Avenue. CBS2 news staff report the squirrel is doing well and is expected to return to the streets of Boise soon. (Idaho News)
  2. Earlier this week, Boise residents and others received an Amber Alert dealing with a Burley girl abduction. We now find out a Boise woman was involved in the incident and is now facing kidnapping charges, according to KLIX radio and Benito Baeza. (News Radio 1310 KLIX)
  3. They came, spent $90,000, did not pass one bill and went home. The Idaho Capital Sun's Clark Corbin reports on the last three days of Idaho's longest legislative session at 311 days. We will see them again in January. (idahocapitalsun)
  4. Idahoans from Boise and Canyon County are driving over the Snake River into Ontario for legalized marijuana purchases. If a philanthropist has his way, an additional purchase currently illegal in Idaho, would be allowable in Oregon. The Associated Press is reporting papers were filed with the Oregon Secretary of State on Tuesday to decriminalize sex work in the state in an attempt to put the issue before voters in the 2022 election. (apnews)
  5. Boiseans may wish to make those holiday pies early so just the turkey is left to roast in the oven on Thanksgiving Day. KTVB-TV's Shirah Matsuzawa reports Bogus Basin is scheduled to open by Thanksgiving Day and is hoping to open a few trails even earlier. (KTVB.com)

Boise Fact of the Day

Bogus Basin opened in December 1942 with a 500-foot (150 m) rope tow, and a 3,300-foot (1,010 m) T-bar was installed in 1946. In the early 1950s, Bogus had a 30-meter Nordic ski jump, designed by Corey Engen, and his brother Sverre was Bogus' ski instructor.
