- The California Attorney General has launched a probe into the police department formerly led by Boise Police Department's current deputy chief. Tammany Brooks is facing an investigation out of California related to potentially discriminatory misconduct. A related lawsuit filed by Antioch, California residents doesn't indicate that he made bigoted comments through text messages, but it does indicate that he was indifferent to how his officers were conducting themselves when he was in a position of power to stop that misconduct. In 2022, Brooks came on board to the department in Boise, but he is not the only one in the department with complaints, the chief has since departed and had complaints reported about him by other officers. The Boise Council has since hired a law firm to investigate the reports and conduct within the police department. (boisedev.com)
- Ada County and the City of Boise launched a website called "Float the Boise" to improve information and safety for recreational river floaters. The new website combines information from the Boise Fire Department and the Ada County Parks and Waterways to give people in-depth information about river conditions. The website has a safety checklist and gives real-time updates on the area's river flows and weather forecasts. There is also an interactive map complete with all the details and hazards that these agencies find in the rivers so floaters can be prepared for what will come on their trips. Currently, the river conditions remain unsafe for floating, but you can check the new site for updates here. (Idaho News)
- A Boise woman was arrested after returning items she stole off the shelves to receive store credit. Katie Fullmer took $54 of merchandise off the shelves and took them to the return counter to fraudulently receive store credit. She then additionally stole $400 worth of more items and left the store. A few days later she pawned those items off. The incident cost the store and pawn shop an estimated $493 in loss. Fullmer now faces grand theft, burglary, and an outstanding warrant for a failure to appear. (Idaho News)
