Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. A Boise father is facing two felony charges after his son died this past summer at Lucky Peak. CBS2 carries a story by the Idaho Statesman's Sally Krutzig reporting Vyla Sichulailuck was arrested Monday and charged with two felony counts of injury to a child. Sichulailuck was piloting a Jet Ski with his son Bobby as a passenger. The son fell off and drowned with the body not found for over two weeks. 2. The City of Boise is considering steeper fines and escalating punishments for repeat offenders participating in The Cruise downtown. BoiseDev reporter Margaret Carmel reports the move comes after the Downtown Boise Association forged a partnership with City Council President Pro Tem Holli Woodings over the summer to try and find a new city policy to address the negative impacts downtown businesses have reported from the event, popular in Boise since the 1950s. In partnership with T-Mobile:

Nominate a local hero. Heroes aren’t just the people behind grand gestures and life-saving measures. They’re also folks from all walks of life who make things better in Boise with small gestures, acts of selflessness, or just by showing up. We're working with our friends at T-Mobile to give thanks — and a bit of recognition — to some of these folks. So, if you know a teacher, health care provider, veteran or someone else who's making a difference in Boise, give them a shoutout! Just fill out this form, and we’ll do the rest, by following up and doing stories about them on Patch, so the whole neighborhood can celebrate how awesome they are.
