Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. During the pandemic, Boise residents may have experienced a wait for medical treatment. Now, it may be your pet who is waiting to see a vet. KTVB-TV's Shirah Matsuzawa reports area veterinary clinics are dealing with a shortage of veterinarians and in some cases, pet owners are being referred to emergency centers for treatment. (KTVB.com)
  2. If you are on the hunt for just that perfect pumpkin for the upcoming holiday, we have the answer. Totally Boise's Mariah Hebbein lists a guide to pumpkin patches around Boise. The guide includes the features of each patch along with a link to each providing directions. (totallyboise)
  3. Expo Idaho, known to many of us as the Fairgrounds, has changes coming and three design firms want to show you their vision of the future. BoiseDev's reporter Autumn Robertson writes the three firms plan on unveiling their ideas on Oct. 4 at the Ada County Courthouse and you can watch via livestreaming. After the hearing, a committee comprised of county employees will make a recommendation to the full board for approval or denial. (boisedev.com)
  4. A popular recreation area and hunting spot is closed while searchers look for a missing person. CBS2 news staff report the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office and Elmore County Search and Rescue responded to a call for a missing person in the Big Trinity Lake area on Saturday, Sept. 24. Using manpower, drones and watercraft, the area is now closed while the sheriff's office completes the search, and the individual is located. (idahonews)
  5. Outgoing and defeated Idaho Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin is looking for parents in the West Ada School District to serve on a committee that will help choose kindergarten through fifth-grade textbooks. IdahoEdNews reporter Kevin Richert writes the textbook committee will hold seven meetings between Oct. 25 and Jan. 10, when it will make recommendations to the school board. McGeachin directs interested persons to contact her director of strategy and constituent services, Machele Hamilton, for more information. (idahoednews)
