Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. After discussions arose to convert 5th and 6th streets to two-way traffic, the Idaho Legislature now wants ultimate approval over city streets. BoiseDevreporter Margaret Carmel reports a bill is quickly moving through the state capital requiring the director of the Idaho Department of Administration to approve any changes to the roads around the capitol that exceed a week. In addition, all parking meters in the area would be controlled by the state, not the city. (boisedev.com)
  2. Don't bother spraying perfume on letters to inmates in the Ada County Jail any longer. CBS2 news staff report beginning in April, letters to the jail will be sent to a vendor in Maryland. The mail will then be scanned and delivered electronically to inmates on their tablets or video kiosks. According to the article, the jail receives and inspects over 100 pieces of mail every day. The article does not include the cost of the new system. (Idaho News)
  3. The identity of the pedestrian struck and killed in downtown Boise has been released. KTVB-TV staff write Henry G. Reents, 79, was hit Jan. 23 by a pickup truck turning left from 11th onto State Street. (KTVB.com)
  4. There is a cute 3 bedroom in the north end. A newer home backing up to the foothills. Or a house in Eagle. Boise Patch presents homes for sale in the Boise area. (Boise Patch)
  5. Two out of five Idaho teens have tried vaping at least once according to an anti-vaping campaign recently launched. IdahoEdNews reporter Darren Svan writes Idaho Public Television is launching a new campaign to warn teens the dangers of vaping. The campaign, known as "KNOW VAPE" will include an hour-long documentary and a contest for teens with over $10,000 in prizes. (idahoednews)
