Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. Day four of the Lori Vallow Daybell is in the books. EastIdahoNews reporter Nate Eaton writes expect the jury to be selected and seated along with alternates on Friday. Three people called to jury duty on Thursday failed to show. Opening statements for the trial is scheduled to Monday starting at 8:30 a.m. Again, Eaton writes the length of the trial is tough on potential jurors. A grandmother was excused as she cares for her grandson and numerous potential jurors have been excused due to employment concerns. (eastidahonews)
  2. A Caldwell man is heading to federal prison for at least 11 years for possession of child pornography. CBS2 news staff report Juan Salinas was sentenced after a conviction found he possessed hundreds of images and videos of child pornography, including files depicting infants and toddlers on his electronic devices. Salinas was also sentenced to lifetime supervision. (idahonews)
  3. Boise High School students took to the streets outside the school with chalk to show their concern with gun violence in schools. IdahoEdNews reporter Sadie Dittenbar writes at least 70 students participated in the protest calling for action against gun violence. The march was organized by Idaho’s March for Our Lives chapter.   4. Zoo Boise will be the place to be Saturday as Easter EGGstravaganza is held. Boise Patch brings followers the information on the candy stations, vendors, activities, the Easter Bunny, and the opportunity to watch your favorite zoo animals receive special gifts. Part of admission to the events goes directly to support wildlife conservation. (Boise Patch)
  5. If the EGGstravaganza is not in your calendar, this weekend holds a number of egg finding events locally. FromBoise's Marissa lists two egg hunts on Friday, 10 egg hunts on Saturday and five Easter events on Sunday. If no children are in your home, there is also adult egg hunts involving beer.
