Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- Local law enforcement owes Nevada one. KTVB-TV staff report Nevada police arrested two men wanted in connection with a robbery at a pharmacy along East Fairview Avenue and Locust Grove Road Monday. 24-year-old Tyheir Bolden, 26-year-old Domonique Joyner-Hodges and 24-year-old Antonio Watkins were arrested after a pursuit and found with significant quantities of prescription drugs believed taken during the Meridian robbery. The California men are also being investigated for other Idaho prescription drug robberies. (KTVB.com)
- Our unusually warm fall weather is producing a positive for local kids. CBS2 news staff report the Meridian Parks and Recreation announced local splash pads will remain open through Sunday, Oct. 2 in Settlers, Kleiner and Discovery parks. Hours of operation will be noon to 7 p.m. daily. (Idaho News)
- The Faces of Hope Victim Center in downtown Boise is in the middle of a virtual fundraiser after seeing a 27 percent increase in the need for the services it offers. The Boise Weekly's Tracy Bringhurst speaks with Executive Director Paige Dinger discussing the need for wraparound services for domestic abuse victims and the opening of a new client service center in Meridian. (boiseweekly)
- Everyone knows Idaho for potatoes, but some lesser-known commodities are now receiving some cash to promote Idaho products. The Idaho Farm Bureau's Sean Ellis writes the Idaho Department of Agriculture announced $1.85 million in grants were recently awarded to the state's specialty crops including local wine makers. The focus of the wine grant "is to reach the recent newcomers to the state, many of whom come from other wine-producing states but don’t yet know that Idaho has its own flourishing wine industry." - Your trip to the Boise Costco may soon even see a larger facility. BoiseDev editor Don Day reports the retail giant is considering expanding the Cole Road store to include a MDO (market delivery operations). Large items ordered by customers would be available for immediate delivery rather than shipped in from out of areas warehouses. A neighborhood meeting on the expansion is planned. (boisedev)
