- In less than three weeks, Boise will be hosting the Lori Vallow Daybell trial. EastIdahoNews reporter Nate Eaton reports prior to the trial beginning, three motions filed by Vallow Daybell's attorneys will be decided. Her attorneys are asking for all written and recorded statements made by Chad Daybell while in custody and also asking the court to exclude evidence prosecutors disclosed to them on Feb. 27 at 4:07 p.m. Finally, the attorneys for Vallow Daybell are asking the death penalty be taken off the table for a multitude of reasons. Lori Vallow Daybell will be in Boise no later than March 25 for the April 3 trial. (eastidahonews)
- Boise Patch jumps out of the local area for this next story. KMVT staff report Idaho State Police are investigating a suspicious death on Interstate 84 in Ada County. A 25-year-old male passenger in a vehicle exited the vehicle while in motion onto the interstate and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. (KMVT)
- Here is something for the bored kid in the house over the summer. Boise Patch reports the Boise Police Department is hosting a three-week summer program for youth. This is a partnership with the Boise Police Activities League (PAL) and focuses on life skills, character building, and opportunities to explore a variety of careers. The program is called the SHIELD Academy which stands for the program’s core themes, Success, Helping, Innovation, Empowerment, Leadership, and Discovery. (Boise Patch)
- One Boise youth will probably not have time for the SHIELD program offered over the summer. KTVB-TV's Shirah Matsuzawa writes 12-year-old Steven Thompson is the world's youngest detailer to earn his Certified Detailer certification from the International Detailing Association. Thompson has already worked on some of the world's most iconic cars and is currently scheduled to detail Ronald Reagan's Air Force One. (KTVB.com)
- According to the state's own report, Idaho needs at least 3,000 more direct care workers to serve older and disabled Idahoans who rely on those professionals to remain in their homes. The IdahoCapitalSun's Clark Corbin reports Idaho’s direct care workforce shortage is worse than the national average because pay is capped by Medicaid rates, which are set by the state. Idaho currently has a direct care workforce of about 23,000 people who help seniors and Idahoans who are disabled with daily tasks such as eating and getting dressed, as well as transportation, nursing and counseling.
