Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. A Louisiana man, missing in the Payette River since June 11, was found by a volunteer searcher downstream from where he fell from a tube while floating the river. Emmett Messenger Index reporter Del Gray reports the Gem County Sheriff's Office confirmed the body of 21-year-old Everette Jackson was recovered approximately 2 miles downstream from the location where Jackson was last seen. Friends and family of Jackson had arrived from Louisiana earlier in the week to assist in the search. (emmettmessengerindex)
  2. Nationwide, drivers are starting to see gas prices fall a little. Not so much here in Boise as our cost to fuel up continues to rise. KTVB-TV's staff report a gallon of gas rose 8.6 cents this past week while the average price fell 4.2 cents per gallon across the U.S. Boise Patch is curious if gas prices are making you change your plans for the upcoming Fourth of July? (ktvb)
  3. Did your boss call you in last week offering a raise of $35,000? IdahoEdNews reporter Kevin Richert writes that is exactly what happened to Lewis-Clark State College President Cynthia Pemberton as the State Board of Education decided to raise her salary to $275,000 annually. Pemberton is still making less than College of Western Idaho President Gordon Jones ($315,000 per year) and Boise State University President Marlene Tromp ($437,757 per year). (idahoednews)
  4. If you did not receive a $35,000 raise and are considering a career change or a new company, check out who is hiring this week courtesy of Boise Patch. (Boise Patch)
  5. If you heading to McCall for the popular 4th of July Celebration in the mountain town, you may think back to trips to the vacation spot and breakfasts at the Pancake House. The popular spot closed in December 2021, leaving many wondering where to start the day. LITE-FM's Michelle Heart announces a new breakfast destination is opening June 24, just in time for fireworks over the lake. Brunchette on the Lake secured a location at 317 E Lake St in McCall and is ready for the holiday influx of valley travelers. If your are confused exactly what a brunchette is, here is the breakdown according to the business's website: br(eakfast) + (l)unch + (b)ette(r). (LiteOnline.com)
