Find out everything new in town with the Boise Daily.

Morning, neighbors! It's me again, John Braese, your host of the Boise Daily.
Welcome to the Boise Daily. The security guard, now being hailed as a hero during the mall shooting, has been identified by family members. We also carry an article asking the question if Boise will ever be the same city after all of this. The Idaho Legislature is returning back to work early while there is now money to preserve some of Idaho's past. Finally, as the election comes closer, candidates are asked the question if short-term rentals should be controlled.

- LITE-FM's Michelle Heart writes a poignant piece on the mall shooting, touching a nerve of many. For old-timers of Boise, the location was a horse pasture with one lone horse and a dilapidated barn for years. The building of the mall brought indoor shopping to Boise. Walkers used the mall early in the morning before the stores opened. Stores came and went, but the mall survived. Now, we must wonder how Boise overcomes this horrendous memory? (liteonline)
- No, it is not January yet, but the Idaho Legislature is returning to Boise in just over two weeks. Kevin Richert of the IdahoEdNews reports the House and Senate will convene to take up vaccine mandates and a House ethics complaint. (idahoednews)
- The Idaho State Historical Society has received a $500,000 grant from the National Park Service, according to news staff at CBS2-TV. The money will be used to help preserve state artifacts and historical sites. (idahonews)
- Ask 10 people in Boise their views on short-term rentals and the answers will be varied. With the tight housing market, BoiseDev's Margaret Carmel asked the current city council candidates their views on the issue. (BoiseDev)
