Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. Boise based Micron Technology hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for the company's recently announced new chip plant. KTVB-TV points out in attendance was Idaho Sen. Jim Risch, a no vote on the Chips Act. The federal legislation provided tax breaks to companies in the United States opening new technology manufacturing plants. Risch used the celebration to spend seven minutes explaining his no vote. (KTVB.com)
  2. Boise residents may love the foothills to death. Boise State University Arbiter's Naomi Priddy writes invasive species, carried on clothing and footwear, are increasing along the trails in our favorite backyard. Increasing use is also creating erosion problems. The article also includes resources for users to better take care of our city's outdoor star. (Boise State University The Arbiter Online)
  3. Much has been reported regarding law enforcement agencies inability to find new staff. KIVI-TV's Nicole Camarda was able to meet Boise Police Department's newest hire, Cruz. The Labrador mix joins the force as a mental health support animal, the department's second canine on the job. Cruz is a local find, coming from “Take Me Home” dog rescue in Eagle. (Idaho News 6 Boise Twin Falls)
  4. Chances are you have seen them in print ads, on social media or listened to an advertisement on your vehicle's radio. The prisons located just outside of Boise need staff. Boise State Public Radio hosts a story by Wyoming Public Radio's Will Walkey showing the Idaho correctional system is not alone in problems finding people to work inside prisons. Wyoming currently has 20 percent of positions unfilled, and the numbers are similar in facilities across the Mountain West. (Boise State Public Radio)
  5. By now, Boise country music fans are well aware superstar Luke Combs is coming to town. LITE-FM's Marco points out the Boise stop will be the smallest town on the Combs tour but could well change the future of concerts in Boise. With renting Albertsons Stadium substantially less expensive than facilities in larger towns, a sellout for Combs could draw other big names to the capital city. (107.9 LITE FM)
