Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- "Monkey's Law" was recently signed by Idaho Gov. Brad Little. KIVI-TV's Kelsie Rose writes the law will unify how Idaho law enforcement handles reports of missing or endangered persons in the state. The legislation was prompted by Michael "Monkey" Vaughn, a 5-year-old boy from Fruitland, still missing. At the time Vaughn disappeared in July 2021, no Amber Alert was issued as his case did not meet all the criteria. Little was joined at the bill's signing by Vaughn's parents. (KIVI)
- Bronco football remains king in Boise, but according to The Arbiter's Matthew Valento, the collegiate sport of beach volleyball is picking up both fans and wins this season. On the news of this season, the Broncos picked up their first win against a nationally ranked opponent. (Boise State University The Arbiter Online)
- One of the last remaining open spaces in Boise may soon see 800 residential units, according to BoiseDev editor Don Day. The land, commonly known as the Simunich Farm, has plans for apartments, townhouses and a mix of one- and two-story houses. (boisedev)
- Scammers are always looking for new methods to take your money. The City of Boise and Boise Patch get together to provide you with the latest scams out there and the way to avoid having your money end up in the wrong hands. (Boise Patch)
- An Ada County jury now has the case of an ex-Idaho lawmaker facing sexual assault charges. CBS2 has the Associated Press story of Aaron von Ehlinger's case involving a then 19-year-old intern and an incident von Ehlinger claims was consensual. The former Republican legislator resigned his office after a legislative ethics committee recommended he be banned from the Idaho Statehouse. (idahonews)
