The weekend looks great and the Boise Daily is here to keep you updated. A convicted Boise child murderer is looking to return to court after appealing his conviction. The interstate in Boise was shut down for hours after a man laid down in front of an upcoming vehicle. A Boise house fire claimed the life of a family pet, and Krispy Kreme wants to give away double the doughnuts. Finally, your local road may not be repaired on time due to COVID-19.

- Timmy Kinner, Jr., the man who was sentenced to life in prison this year after pleading guilty to a mass stabbing that left a toddler dead, has appealed his conviction. KTVB-TV updates the case as reported by Ryan Suppe of the Idaho Press. (KTVB.com)
- A Rigby man is dead after he threw himself in front of traffic in Boise. (Boise Patch)
- Staff of CBS2-TV have the story of a dog perishing and eight people treated for smoke inhalation after a house fire in Boise late Wednesday evening. (Idaho News)
- One free doughnut is good. Two free doughnuts are even better. After giving away 2.5 million doughnuts, Krispy Kreme, including the local location, will now give away two free doughnuts through Sept. 5 to anyone who has received at least one dose of the available COVID-19 vaccines. - STEM-O-RAMA (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics fair), where you learn by doing and have fun! - The inaugural Treasure Valley Fine Arts Festival will be held Aug. 28-29 at Julius Kleiner Park in Meridian, located near the junction of Eagle Road and Fairview. Festival hours are Saturday, Aug. 28, 9 a.m. - 6p.m. and on Sunday, Aug. 29, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. This new arts festival gives Ada and Canyon County residents and visitors the opportunity to interact directly with 100 professional artists and learn what's new in the world of arts and crafts. - Boise Comic Arts Festival 2021 at the Boise Public Library. Boise Comic Arts Festival (BCAF) inspires creators of all ages, cultivates a comics community, showcases local and international artists. (10 a.m.)
- The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho are teaming up with our friends at Tamarack Resort to bring to you our new fall fundraising event The Big Day Out at Tamarack. (11 a.m.)
- Raptorfest returns for their annual in-person event, taking place at the stunning Indian Creek Winery in Kuna, Idaho. Expect live music, kid’s activities, informative booths from its non-profit partners, local vendors, food trucks, beer, wine, and live birds of prey.
