Good morning, hello! I'm back in your inbox this morning with your new edition of the Boise Daily, fresh off the presses. Here are all the most important things to know about what's happening locally.

Our reader question today centers around those who took a trip to the Western Idaho Fair this past weekend. Looking back at our local fair, let us know what was the best part of your visit and what was something you would change. Email you responses to john.braese@patch.com.

Welcome to the Monday edition of the Boise Daily. The opening weekend of high school football is now behind us, but one local team had visitors from way out of town. You have the chance to informally name an eagle looking over the state and a new "think tank" is coming to Boise. Read of some bizarre happenings over the past 70 years and the efforts to find a missing local boy will soon be seen on interstates across the nation.

Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. If you think a trip to Meridian is a drive for a high school football game, consider this. For their fall opener, the Homedale Trojans hosted Laguna Beach High School from Southern California. KIVI-TV's Brendyn Jones writes the visitors flew into Boise earlier in the week, went to the Caldwell Night Rodeo, did some white water rafting and took a tour of Boise State University. The Trojans opened the new season on their new artificial turf with a 46-14 victory over the visiting California team. (kivitv)
  2. If you work in downtown Boise, you see it everyday. Sitting atop the state capital is a copper eagle standing over five feet in height. The Boise Weekly's Tracy Bringhurst recently interviewed Aaron Follis and his nametheeagle.com initiative. After finding our Idaho eagle had no name, Follis has jump started a campaign to give the old boy/girl an identity. (boiseweekly)
  3. A new group is promising "to bring some adults into the room and have a debate” and states will do so without an agenda other than the free market. KTVB-TV carries a story by Idaho Press reporter Betsy Russell of the new Mountain States Policy Center, a new "free-market think tank". The 501c3 educational nonprofit will have offices in Boise and Couer d'Alene and also will operate in Eastern Washington, Montana and Wyoming. The new group states they won’t rate bills and legislators for how closely they match its agenda. (ktvb)
  4. Boise and Idaho has changed much over the last 70 years. A giant hole downtown has been filled in, scores of new neighbors have shown up, a local school has continued the battle against the dreaded cockroach and beavers were relocated by parachutes. LITE-FM's Michelle Heart recounts the "most bizarre things to happen in Idaho in the past 70 years." (liteonline)
  5. The Boise Daily has been diligent in keeping followers update on the missing Fruitland child, Michael Vaughn. The search for Vaughn, now missing for over one year, will now go beyond our state's borders courtesy of semi-trailers. CBS2 news staff report the Fruitland Police Department are partnering with the Homeward Bound Project to place Vaughn's case information on the side of semi-trailers that travel across North America.
