The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Boise.

Hello, Boise! I'm here in your inbox per usual to tell you everything you need to know about what's going on in town.
Welcome to the Friday edition of the Boise Daily. Congratulations on making it another week and we start with a compromise story between the city and the art museum. Thirty-two years after passage of federal law, a local leader in disabilities states there is still much work to be done. The Treefort Music Festival will soon have a new home, and a just released study shows Americans are not trusting public health entities. Finally, this is the year for Mormon crickets and one state agency is using a road grader to clear off pests.

Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- If you recall last December, the City of Boise and the Boise Art Museum were feuding over the lease arrangement on the museum's building. In December, the city council voted to withhold funding to the museum until a compromise could be reached. BoiseDev reporter Margaret Carmel reports the two sides finally have reached an agreement. The Boise Art Museum will continue to call Julia Davis Park home for 40 years but will pay more than the $1 per year starting in three years. (boisedev.com)
- As a person whose godfather was confined to a wheelchair after an industrial accident with a power line and later having a high school friend also in a wheelchair, I understand the next story. Boise Weekly reporter Tracy Bringhurst speaks with Brittany O'Meara, the education director of Intermountain Fair Housing Council, discussing Disability Pride Month. O'Meara discusses only 1 percent of homes are available/modifiable for people using wheelchairs and other work needed for people with disabilities. (boiseweekly)
- The golden shovels were out in force as the Treefort Music Hall broke ground for a home of their own. KTVB-TV's Tristan Lewis was on hand as a dream hatched 10 years ago took the first steps towards reality. The new music venue will feature a rooftop patio, two bar areas, two artist greenrooms and an office space, and will be able to welcome 1,049 people into the venue. (KTVB.com)
- Here is a story probably not a shock to many. The Idaho Capital Sun's Audrey Dutton reports a recent study by the University of Idaho found Americans have lost faith and trust in public health institutions. The study, published in May in the journal PLOS One, shows a wide divide between urban and rural Americans and also found that in dealing with COVID-19, multiple problems occurred including lack of uniform national, state and local strategies; inadequate reach, accessibility, and consistency of public health information; and widespread misinformation and disinformation that was not adequately refuted. - If you are taking a weekend drive to Swan Falls, keep your vehicle windows rolled up. That is the advice provided by a Kuna woman after battling an onslaught of Mormon crickets. MIX-106's Ryan reports the pests, not truly crickets but shieldbacked katydids, are out in force this year and terrifying some. If you think we have it bad here in the valley, take a look at this short video by the Idaho Department of Transportation showing the state using heavy equipment to clear off crickets from a highway. (Idaho Humane Society via Facebook)
