🌱 New Trial Date + Boise Tiger Retiree + Memorial Day Celebrations
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Boise.

Good morning, friends. It's me, John Braese, your host of the Boise Daily here to tell you everything that's fit to print about what's happening in town. I'll get right to it.
We start Friday's edition of the Boise Daily with news of a change in a trial date. Lori Vallow Daybell will now await a 2023 date to determine her fate. A new retirement home has opened in Boise, but meat will be a staple on the menu for a tiger looking to relax. A crash on the interstate has sent a motorcyclist to the hospital and we provide our followers with what is happening on Memorial Day in our local cemeteries. The primary election is over, and we look at who financed all those yard signs and radio ads.

Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- Lori Vallow Daybell will not see the inside of a court room until next year. We return to the writer who has followed this case since day one, East Idaho News reporter Nate Easton. Judge Steven Boyce issued a 12-page opinion on Thursday agreeing to delay Vallow Daybell's trial until Jan. 9, 2023, as requested by the prosecution. The trial will be held in Boise and prosecutors argued witnesses and evidence would be the same as the trial for Chad Daybell. Both defendants have been charged with counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the deaths of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan — two of Lori’s kids — and Chad’s first wife, Tammy Daybell. The death penalty has been sought in both cases and the trial is expected to last 10 weeks. (eastidahonews)
- For everyone, the time comes to retire and take it easy. KIVI-TV's Kelcie Rose writes of a new retiree to Boise, Akasha. The 11-year old Amur tiger has arrived to Zoo Boise's new ReTigerment Home to relax and spend some time in the sun. (Idaho News 6 Boise Twin Falls)
- A motorcyclist is in the hospital after he drove into the back of a mini van near Meridian Wednesday evening. KTVB-TV staff report the crash took place on I-84 near the Eagle Road exit with the accident still under investigation by the Idaho State Police. (KTVB.com)
- Boise Patch has the information you need if your plans involve visiting one of the Boise cemeteries. The city has in place rules for graveside flowers and containers and as they have for many past years, a Civil War group will have a presentation on Monday, May 30 at Morris Hill Cemetery for a flag raising and a gun salute. (Boise Patch)
- People in the eastern United States are taking an interest in little old Idaho to the tune of millions of dollars. The Idaho Capital Sun's Kelcie Mosely-Morris reports political action committees (PACs) spent more than $3.3 million in Idaho elections in just the first four months of 2022 and much of that cash came from groups in Virginia and Washington, D.C. Take a look at this excellent article outlining where the money came from, where the money went to see and who outside our borders had an interest in the candidates you elected. (idahocapitalsun)
