Hello, everybody. It's me, John Braese, your host of the Boise Daily — back in your inbox with all the most important things happening in the community today.

As the summer comes to a close in Boise, our reader question of the day revolves around our past hot days. What is your best memory of this past summer? Did you have family visit or have a special event or meet someone special? Let us know by emailing john.braese@patch.com.

Welcome to the Sunday edition of the Boise Daily. We start with a video of the recent Nite Glow for your enjoyment and notify you of the end of the float season. The legislature was not in Boise for long and a search this summer attempted to provide answers to a family after 60 years. Finally, your workout center may have new owners.

Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. If you were unable to attend the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic's Nite Glow, CBS2 news staff have an excellent video of the event. Sit back and watch the night light up at Ann Morrison Park. (Idaho News)
  2. You only have a few more days to officially float the Boise River. A sure sign of the end of summer, Boise Patch carries a notice from the City of Boise effective Labor Day, raft rentals and shuttle service will come to a close on Labor Day. With school back in session and now tubing coming to a close, fall is here. (Boise Patch)
  3. If only the Idaho Legislature could work so quickly on other issues. Needing just a day in Boise and needing only nine minutes to introduce a $1 billion bill to cut taxes and increase education funding, the special session has come to a quick end. The Idaho Capital Sun's Clark Corbin, Kelcie Mosely-Morris and Christina Lords were also present as both the Idaho House and Senate passed the 14-page bill and Governor Brad Little made it law with his signature. The action includes a tax rebate for Idahoans, creates a new flat tax rate, ups school funding and creates a new fund for in-demand careers. (idahocapitalsun)
  4. While the Boise Daily typically stays with news of our capital city, a story sometimes arises that is of so interest, we let you know. KIDO-AM's Benita Baeza writes of a search this past summer in eastern Idaho for man missing from hunting camp 60 years ago. Floyd Dorsey was caught in a snow storm, one that killed two additional hunters in the same area. Dorsey has never been found. (kidotalkradio)
  5. If you are a member of Idaho Fitness Club, your workout space will soon have new owners. BoiseDev reporter Anna Daly writes Alturas Business Partners, a company in Eagle, has purchased the 24-hour gym that now has eight fitness clubs across the Treasure Valley. The group states no changes are planned at your gym. (BoiseDev)

From my notebook:
